Courtsy helps communities manage court reservations. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect and why.

The Short Version

• We do not sell account information to third parties.
• We do not collect an email address just because someone views a court schedule.
• If someone signs in or books a court, we use their email only to verify their identity, protect booking fairness, and send the requested sign-in, confirmation, or cancellation messages. We do not use booking email addresses for advertising or marketing.
• A public schedule shows only a booker’s first name and last initial, never their email address.

Information We Collect

We collect the information needed to run the service:

• Email address, first name, and last initial for passwordless sign-in and reservations.
• Reservation details, including the court, date, time, and whether a reservation was flagged as abandoned.
• Account and community-administration details when someone creates or manages a paid community account.
• Payment-related references from our payment provider. Courtsy does not store full payment card numbers.
• Messages and contact details voluntarily submitted through support or contact forms.
• Limited technical and error information needed to keep the service secure and reliable. Email addresses, tokens, secrets, and URL query values are redacted from application error telemetry.

How We Use Information

We use information to authenticate users, create and manage reservations, send transactional emails, provide support, process subscriptions, prevent misuse, improve reliability, and meet legal obligations.

We share information only with service providers that help operate Courtsy, such as hosting, storage, email delivery, payment processing, and error monitoring providers. They may use it only to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect people, rights, and the service.

Retention

Active daily reservation data expires at the next local midnight for the court. We retain account, payment, administrative, and audit information only as needed to operate the service, resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and keep reliable records. Closed support cases are retained for 30 days.

Cookie Policy

Courtsy uses essential, first-party cookies only. They keep you signed in, secure a booking session, preserve a registration step, or maintain the state of a billing action. These cookies are not used for advertising, cross-site tracking, or browser analytics. They are HTTP-only where possible, and are sent securely in production.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser, but sign-in, booking, registration, and billing features may then stop working. If you use an external payment checkout, that provider’s website may set its own cookies under its separate privacy policy.

Your Choices

You can avoid providing personal information by not creating an account or making a reservation. You can ask questions about your information or request help with your account through the Courtsy contact page. You can also clear Courtsy cookies through your browser.

California Privacy Notice

This section applies to California residents to the extent the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, applies to Courtsy. In the preceding 12 months, we have collected the categories described in Information We Collect: identifiers, reservation and account information, payment-related references, support communications, and limited technical or error information. We use and disclose those categories for the purposes described in How We Use Information.

Courtsy does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about people.

California residents may request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information, and may limit certain uses of sensitive personal information where applicable. An authorized agent may submit a request on a resident’s behalf. To make a request, use the Courtsy contact page. We will verify requests before acting on them and will not discriminate against anyone for exercising privacy rights.

EEA and UK Privacy Notice

For people in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, Courtsy is the controller of the personal data described in this policy. Contact us about privacy through the Courtsy contact page.

We process personal data when it is necessary to provide Courtsy and complete requested booking, account, support, or subscription services; to meet legal obligations; and for our legitimate interests in securing the service, preventing misuse, and maintaining its reliability. Where consent is required, we will rely on it and it can be withdrawn at any time.

Our service providers may process information in countries outside the EEA or UK. When required, we use appropriate safeguards for those transfers.

Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction, deletion, restriction, or portability of your personal data, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. Security

We use access controls, signed links, secure session cookies, and privacy-minimized public reservation data to protect information. No system can promise perfect security, but we work to prevent unauthorized access and limit the information we keep.
